What is THCa and where can I get it?

Until recently, few products incorporated THCA’s many benefits. However, many brands are now making THCA-centric topical and ingestion products – recommended site!

Although both recreational and medical dispensaries are allowed to carry THCA based products or infused with THCA, it is more likely that you’ll find these in a shop with a more medicinal focus. Remember, these products are not combustable.

What is the legal status of THCA?

The legality of THCA is a complex issue. Even though THCA isn’t psychoactive by itself, it still counts as part of cannabis and can be converted to THC if exposed to heat. The semi-intoxicating CBN is also a cannabis derivative. There are some stores in the US that sell THCA over-the-counter. No medical cards required. However, this is dependent on state and local laws and should not be considered a guarantee.

Even though THCA has not been listed on the schedule of substances, local and federal law still apply to possession of a large amount of THCA rich products such as weed, concentrates or bud. If you are caught in possession of one pound or more of raw cannabis, the arresting officer will ignore that it is not intoxicating.

What is the difference between delta-8 and delta-9?

THCA, or delta-9 THC in its acidic form, is the main intoxicating component in marijuana.

Delta-8 THC contains the same amount of atoms, but its arrangement is different, which impacts on its effects. It is this way that companies are able to produce legally delta-8 hemp products, as they must have less than 0.3% THC.

Delta-8 is also derived from THCA, called delta-8-tetrahydrocannabinolic acid, but little research exists to understand how it measures up against THCA.

Both delta-8 and Delta-9 THC produce a certain level of intoxication when consumed. The THCA form is acidic.
